Community Extensions – One for all and all for one!

The JoomStew radio extensions series continues with a show about online communities. For our October 6 podcast, JoomStew will interview two community extension power users: Joe Palmer will talk about how he uses Community Builder, and Parth Lawate will share his JomSocial secrets.

Build it and they will come...

If only it were that easy. Constructing an online community to meet the needs of your group and draw people in is a complicated matter. Thanks to Joomla community extensions like Community Builder and JomSocial, much of the work has been done for us. Tune in to learn what these extensions can do!

Taking a Break…

After Joomla!'s big birthday bash last week, JoomStew is taking this week off to prepare for what's next. On September 15 we will kick off a new series of shows covering Joomla! extensions. Up first, two of the most popular CCK's (Content Construction Kits): K2 and FLEXIcontent. Power users Cristina Solana of Nightshift Creative, and Matthew Philogene of raramuridesign, join us to share their experience extending websites with these ingenious tools.

For Joomla!'s a jolly good CMS!

In the meantime, if you missed any of the numerous heartfelt wishes and comments that circulated last week marking the occasion of Joomla!'s 5th birthday, you will find many of them in the Thank You blog posted on the Community website. The list is long, and the outpouring of good feeling was expressed by so many with creativity and eloquence, from all around the world.

Joomla Day DC Banner

Far and wide across this great nation, Joomla! users have been waiting. Waiting for their voice to be heard. Waiting for their vote to count. On October 16th at the footsteps of Washington DC, the wait will be over. We will finally be hearing from the President himself... Mr. Ryan Ozimek, President of Open Source Matters!

For many months now, NoVA Joomla has quietly lobbied from inside the Beltway to build a collation of representatives from across the nation. Delegates are traveling from the District of Columbia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Virginia, Nebraska, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas; we're even expecting visitors from England and Greece! Will you be represented? Only if you attend! Come with us and wave the Red, Green, and Blue! (and orangey-yellow too!)
