A Discussion with OSM President Paul Orwig

OSM President Paul Orwig with son Travis and dog Luna
Paul Orwig has been a volunteer in the Joomla! project for a few years now. He started out as a webmaster for the Joomla Community website, and then moved on to become a member of the Community Leadership Team (CLT). His duties there included co-managing the JED with Matt Lipscomb, as well as creating the Joomla Community Magazine website that is still one of the best sources for Joomla news today.
In October of 2010, Paul was elected to the board of Open Source Matters, and soon was tasked with the role of Treasurer in the project. After a full year of working in both the CLT and OSM at the same time, Paul has stepped down from his CLT position to focus his efforts on his newly elected position as OSM President.
Listen in on the podcast to find out more about OSM and the Joomla project through the eyes of Paul Orwig.
JoomStew Radio at Joomla Day Austin 2011

Joomla Day Austin 2011
The first ever Joomla Day Austin occurred on September 15, 2011 in Downtown Austin, Texas at the Alamo Drafthouse at the Ritz. The venue is unique to most Joomla days as it is an old theatre that has been restored and updated with new seating and amenities that allow for group events to be held.
Another unique idea to Joomla Day Austin was the continuous single-stage presentation format. Due to the unique venue having only 1 stage on which to present, event organizers Kyle and Melinda Ledbetter worked with members of the Austin Joomla Users Group to come up with a format that would have 2 Presenters at the same time for each session throughout the day.
In addition, each session tied together to showcase a complete site redesign of the Minis and Friends website from start to finish. The website was chosen by the Austin JUG members from a group of local Non-Profits who were in need of a website makeover.
The Event turned out to be a huge success from the eyes of both the event organizers and the attendees. Listen in to the podcast and hear the reaction from many of the presenters and the recipients of the free website makeover as well.
Thanks to Kyle and Melinda Ledbetter for allowing us to record this podcast on location, and to all of the guests for taking time to talk to our hosts. Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Jen Kramer and Dianne Henning for once again taking the time and effort to bring this podcast to you folks here on JoomStew Radio.

JoomStew Radio – State of Joomla Development with Andrew Eddie
JoomStew Radio had the opportunity to sit down this week with one of the Lead Developers of the Joomla! project, Andrew Eddie. It's always a great pleasure to speak with Andrew, and today's show was no different.
Joomla will be releasing Joomla 1.7 in the next 30 days, and we got a chance to talk to Andrew about the new release, the changes in the Development Release Cycle, the Framework Separation, Ebay and Microsoft involvement in the Joomla Project and his thoughts on Forks based on Joomla code.
I'd like to take a minute to give special thanks to my co-hosts Dianne Henning and Alice Grevet for all they do to keep this place going. Without them, we wouldn't have a show and I'd be off doing something else by now. Thanks Ladies.
As always, thanks to Andrew for taking the time to share his thoughts with us, it's never a boring show when we get a chance to speak with you.
Now check out the latest JoomStew Radio show below!
JoomStew Radio – Getting to Know Nooku Server
This week JoomStew Radio sat down with Johan and Tom Janssens to discuss the upcoming Nooku Server release, a Joomla! 1.5 distribution. It's always a good show when Johan stops by, but this week's show has a lot of great information on what we can expect in the upcoming Alpha 3 version of Nooku Server.
Tom is the lead UI/UX Designer for the Nooku Server release and with the help of the Nooku developer community has implemented a truckload of updates to the Administrator area that will make our lives easier. There's also a lengthy discussion in the last half hour of the show on the topic of ACL that you will certainly want to listen to as well.
This was by far the longest show we've done to date, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to split it up into 2 shows. So get ready for an hour and half long podcast!
Thanks again to Tom and Johan for taking the time to sit down with us to discuss Nooku Server, we learned so much, and hope our listeners do as well!
