What better way to celebrate Joomla's 5th birthday than with two original founding members of the Joomla! project: Andrew Eddie, know as ‘Mr Joomla’ around the forums and Brian Teeman, who is considered by many to be the ‘Voice of Joomla’. They join us to share memories of the history and their involvement in the project, as well as their vision for the future. The podcast is a fitting and enlightening tribute to Joomla! on its 5th anniversary. Happy Birthday Joomla!

Joomla! Community Magazine - 3rd Issue Launches Today, September 1, 2010 with a new International Category that features articles in several languages.

Joomla 5th Birthday Movie has been released on the official Joomla Youtube Channel. Thanks to an awesome global team led by Hils Cheyne, with Producers/Directors Jeremy Wilken and Svein Wisnaes  that worked relentlessly to get this done on time.

J&Beyond 2011 dates and venue announced - Thanks to the phenomenal success of J&Beyond 2010, plans for the next event are now finalized: J and Beyond 2011 will take place May 6 - 8, 2011 at the Rolduc Conference and Hotel resort in Kerkrade, Netherlands. A call for papers is out, sign up for the newsletter, and book those dates!

Production Leadership Team Summit 2010 - The next PLT Summit will be held around the Joomla Day West in San Jose in October this year.
Primary focus:

1. Establishing the policy and process to create releases in a more timely and efficient manner.
2. Allow for innovation to be incorporated at a pace that keeps up with user needs.

Packt launches fifth annual Open Source Awards
The 2010 Award will feature a prize fund of $24,000 with several new categories introduced. Voting ends last week in September. While the Open Source CMS Award category will continue to recognize the best content management system, Packt is introducing categories for:

1. Most Promising Open Source Project,
2. Open Source E-Commerce Applications
3. Open Source JavaScript Libraries
4. Open Source Graphics Software

The Aug 1 issue of the Joomla! Community Magazine hit magazine.joomla.org on Monday. This is the second issue produced by the mag team under the leadership of Paul Orwig. Check out the new and beautiful Table of Contents with an improved view of article titles.

• We have original illustrations from Herman and Nelleke at http://www.yepr.eu. Their creations are fresh, insightful, with a little touch of whimsy!
• And we are announcing the initiative to build an International Stories section. Our goal is to bring you articles in numerous language categories from all around the world by September 1.
• If you have an article idea to contribute, please sign up and become a JCM Author.

JoomlaDays coming up!

• JoomlaDay West is a 3 day event, including JoomlaNight, Unconference and Hackable Conference, from October 1-3, 2010. The early bird rate is available through August 31 at $150, after which date the fee will be $250 per attendee. Venue: Ebay North Campus Town Hall in San Jose, California.
• JoomlaDay Italy will be held on  Saturday, October 9th, 2010. I is free for the first 700 registrations! Venue: Congress Centre VeronaFiere, Italy.

J!UX - The Joomla User Experience  group on the People site is establishing goals and taking a roll call of folks ready to help. As Kyle Ledbetter puts it: "We need people with ALL SKILLS to make this a successful project!" There is already a very exciting list of Joomla talent ready to devote their time to making the Joomla user experience even better. JUX do it!
