Joomla! Domain Use Approval

Looks like Joomla! has really improved their approval process response time for Domain Name Use. We submitted the request on Thursday and received our approval back on Monday! Way to go Joomla! Trademark Team!

Dear Robert Vining,

We've approved your request for use of the Joomla! name in your domain http://www.joomstew.com. Note that this approval is nontransferable, non exclusive and revocable.

Please be sure to include the following statement: "The Joomla!(R) name is used under a limited license from Open Source Matters in the United States and other countries. http://www.joomstew.com is not affiliated with or endorsed by Open Source Matters or the Joomla! Project."

Also please make sure that the first prominent use of the name Joomla! has the trademark symbol (R in a circle) or (TM).

Note that other logo or name use (even if it is the same as the domain name) must be approved separately. If you would like to use the Joomla! name or one of our logos that is not one of our "Conditional Use Logos" you may fill out a request form found here: http://opensourcematters.org/logo-use-and-name-use.html

Please make sure to keep us up to date with any changes.

Also note the initial agreements to using the trademark included on this page http://opensourcematters.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=86 , that are not in the form itself - specifically:

#4 The use is not detrimental, e.g., harmful or damaging, to the value of any of the Joomla! marks, or to Open Source Matters, its brand integrity, reputation or goodwill, such as use in connection with products, services or other content that (a) is vulgar, obscene, or pornographic, (b) includes statements concerning OSM or the Joomla! Project that are libelous, slanderous or otherwise defamatory, (c) would be considered a criminal offense or would encourage conduct that would be considered a criminal offense or (d) would create any civil liability.  Those are only examples.  Detrimental, harmful or damaging use is determined at the discretion of the Joomla! Project or Open Source Matters.

Thank you for your support of the Joomla! Project, Jennifer Marriott Open Source Matters

  2. thats great to hear. thanks for letting us know.

  3. Nice, used to take forever :)

Curious why a blog about Joomla would use WP when there are so many great blogging extensions for Joomla like K2 though O_o

You have some good content though so I’ll be following via RSS

    • That’s a good question! And one I knew we would take heat for. Actually, I just grabbed the best tool for the job at hand. This site started life solely as a blog to voice my thoughts on the happenings in and around the joomla community.

It’s now taken on a new role in the blog talk radio world as well, but still, it remains a blog and doesn’t require any more than that at this time.

With work, the show and other commitments, I’m not in any hurry to make the change in software right now.
