Johan Janssens is a pillar of the Joomla! community, and is best known for his work as the lead developer for Joomla 1.5 and now Nooku Framework. Johan joined JoomStew Radio to talk about his experience with the Joomla! project in the past, the Nooku Framework team and its plans for the future, and shared his thoughts about the current Joomla Development environment.

Johan has a very good understanding of Free and Open Source Software principles, and shares his insights on how a GPL powered software community can grow and prosper.

  1. Great interview! Very interesting perspectives discussed concerning the ways in which an OS project could/should develop/evolve and the current limitations of the core Joomla project (amongst other things).
    Developers and communication skills often enough don’t hang out together (!), but Johan is obviously an exception as he not only patiently and willfully elaborates on the topics, but also projects a profile of a person who knows how to listen to the community (despite what he may claim!). Indispensable characteristics for true community leadership.

  2. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kostas! I always enjoy having Johan on the show because he has a way of expressing himself honestly without attacking people. It’s always a learning experience every time I get a chance to sit down and talk to him.
