J&Beyond 2011 dates and venue announced - Thanks to the phenomenal success of J&Beyond 2010, plans for the next event are now finalized: J and Beyond 2011 will take place May 6 - 8, 2011 at the Rolduc Conference and Hotel resort in Kerkrade, Netherlands. A call for papers is out, sign up for the newsletter, and book those dates!
Production Leadership Team Summit 2010 - The next PLT Summit will be held around the Joomla Day West in San Jose in October this year.
Primary focus:
- Establishing the policy and process to create releases in a more timely and efficient manner.
- Allow for innovation to be incorporated at a pace that keeps up with user needs.
- Taking community suggestions now
Packt launches fifth annual Open Source Awards
The 2010 Award will feature a prize fund of $24,000 with several new categories introduced. Voting ends last week in September. While the Open Source CMS Award category will continue to recognize the best content management system, Packt is introducing categories for:
- Most Promising Open Source Project,
- Open Source E-Commerce Applications
- Open Source JavaScript Libraries
- Open Source Graphics Software
New JUG Site Directory Launched: http://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html
Features integrated Google Maps and upcoming Calendar for Events. JUGs are invited to update their listings!

Cristina Solana - Created a new Joomla User Group website this week that allows Registered User Groups to update their own listings, and potential new JUGs to register. Great work!

Joomla! User Groups - Update your new listing on the new JUG site directory. You can login and add information about your meeting locations and when your group meets.

I want to share the Contributor of the Week recognition with Himanshu Nagpal, Wilma Howell, Matt Lipscomb and Sandra Warren – we all worked equally hard – this was not a one person job by any means. And we have a new addition to the team Roger Perren!

You and me both Alexis, I was just reading the Admin Praise Blog this morning. He’s doing great things for 1.6 and I can’t wait to see what the JUX group comes up with for 1.7.
